The Nigerian border is so porous for illegal immigrants.in Okuku Yala LGA in Cross Rivers State. More than a hundred illegal immigrants were found in isolated buildings owned by a lawyer and sponsored by one Michael Paul, a Nigerian from Ugep LG A.
This incessant defrauding of Nigerian citizens by Camerounians, who one Micheal Paul has sponsored, and they were arrested by the police in Okuku and handed over to an immigration officer in Yala LGA, but to everyone’s surprise, they are still roaming about the place. When officers of immigration interrogated them, they were discovered to be having. a share in their dealings with all the Cameroonian immigrants who came in through the back door through a bush track in the Ikom border.
Insecurity in Nigeria is a perennial problem, coupled with the corruption of security officers who easily compromise with illegal immigrants. It means insurgents are infiltrating the country without being checked.
